How does the mutual match unlock process and fee structure work?

At BreedBuddies, we believe ethical matchmaking requires mutual intent and complete transparency. Unlike open classified directories where personal phone numbers are publicly indexed by telemarketers and scammers, BreedBuddies operates on a privacy-first, mutual unlock model.

This guide explains how match suggestions transition into verified, direct contact connections between two dog owners.

1. The 4 Stages of a BreedBuddies Connection

Stage 1: Discovery & Match Proposal

You browse potentially compatible breeding partners suggested by the matching engine or discover a dog through targeted breed search. You review their pedigree, conformation photos, and verified health clearances, then click Request Match.

Stage 2: Mutual Evaluation & Approval

The recipient receives a notification detailing your dog's profile, kennel credentials, and registered bloodline. They review your dog's clearances. Both parties must independently click Approve Match.

Gender-Neutral, Mutual Consent
Approval is completely mutual. Neither the stud owner nor the dam owner holds a unilateral final say, and there is no "female-first" approval rule. Contact is only unlocked when both owners enthusiastically agree that the pairing supports sound breeding goals.

Stage 3: The Match Unlock Fee

BreedBuddies is 100% free to join, free to list dog profiles, and free to browse. Listing multiple dogs is free, and there are no ongoing listing maintenance fees. Revenue is earned through a single match unlock fee charged only when a mutual connection is confirmed:

• Male / Stud Dog Owner: AUD $350
• Female / Dam Owner: AUD $450

Why is the Female Fee Higher?
As outlined in our platform policies, the dam-owner fee is higher because a female dog has a much more limited responsible breeding frequency, while a stud dog may participate in multiple suitable matches over time.

Stage 4: Full Contact Unlocked

Once both parties have approved the match and completed their applicable unlock, the platform instantly reveals full contact information: verified phone numbers, direct email addresses, and direct messaging with file-sharing capabilities.

Payment Protection and Scope

• Automatic Refund for Unmatched Payments: If only one owner completes the required match payment and the other owner does not proceed, the contact unlock does not occur and the completed payment is refunded automatically (bank processing times may vary).
• Decision Support, Not Mating Guarantee: The unlock fee provides access to direct contact details. It does not guarantee that the owners will proceed, that mating or pregnancy will occur, or that puppies will result. Both owners remain responsible for independent due diligence, veterinary assessments, and breeding agreements.

From there, you coordinate directly with your fellow breeder to schedule veterinary appointments, discuss agreements, arrange transport, and advance your breeding program responsibly.
