# How to manage multiple dogs and breeds within a single dashboard

Many dedicated breeders maintain several active breeding dogs across multiple generations or specialize in more than one breed. BreedBuddies supports creating multiple dog profiles within a single account without paying any listing fees.

---

## 1. Centralized Kennel Architecture

Under a single BreedBuddies account:
* **Multiple Dog Profiles**: Create individual profiles for each of your breeding dogs under your account. Listing multiple dogs remains free.
* **Distinct Breed Management**: If you manage more than one breed, each dog profile is tailored with its appropriate breed-specific information, lineage, and health documentation.
* **Shared Kennel Credentials**: Your state government breeder identification (such as BIN or Source Number) and kennel prefix link across your dogs, simplifying management.

---

## 2. Managing Breeding Availability & Profile Status

Keep your dogs organized by utilizing the platform's profile status controls:
* **Approved (Active)**: Profile has completed human review by the Woof Team and is active and visible for match discovery.
* **Inactive (Resting / Off-Season)**: You can switch any dog to **Inactive** whenever they are resting between litters, taking a seasonal break, or on show campaigns. Inactive profiles are hidden from active matching and can be reactivated at any time without fees.
* **Pending**: Profile is undergoing document review by the human Woof Team prior to being made visible for matching.

By maintaining accurate availability for each dog, you ensure that match inquiries only arrive for dogs currently open for breeding considerations.

## 3. Australian Statutory Kennel Limits & Premises Caps

When managing multiple breeding dogs, Australian breeders must ensure that their kennel population complies with state animal welfare legislation and municipal council limits:

* **New South Wales**: State legislation imposes a hard cap of **20 non-desexed adult females** per premises unless an official exemption is held under the *Companion Animals Act*.
* **Victoria**:
  - **1–2 fertile females**: Classified as a *microbreeder* (self-enrol on the Pet Exchange Register; exempt from DAB council registration).
  - **3–10 fertile females**: Exempt from DAB registration as a *recreational breeder* if you are a member of an applicable organisation (e.g. Dogs Victoria); otherwise, registration as a Domestic Animal Business (DAB) with local council is mandatory.
  - **11–50 fertile females**: Requires DAB registration plus Commercial Dog Breeder Approval from the Minister for Agriculture (50 fertile females is Victoria's absolute statutory limit).
* **South Australia**: A statutory cap of **50 fertile females** applies per breeder and premises.
* **Tasmania**: A **kennel licence** from your municipal council is triggered whenever **3 or more dogs** (or 5+ working dogs) are kept on a single property, regardless of whether they are breeding stock.
* **Municipal Council Limits**: Throughout all Australian states and territories, local councils enforce residential animal limits (often capping suburban households at 2 to 4 dogs without an excess animal permit). Always verify your property's local planning provisions and excess animal permits when expanding your breeding programme.
