How does the BreedBuddies profile review process work?

At BreedBuddies, trust and animal welfare are central to our community. In an online landscape often plagued by puppy farming, unregistered backyard breeding, and stolen dog identities, our profile review process establishes a verified foundation where ethical breeders can connect with confidence.

Every dog and breeder profile submitted to BreedBuddies undergoes manual review by our human team – the Woof Team – before being featured in public search and match suggestions.

1. What "BreedBuddies-Reviewed Profile" Means

Transparency is our foremost value. We want both breeders and dog owners to understand exactly what our review covers:

Approved Definition
Having a "BreedBuddies-reviewed profile" means that our human team has manually reviewed the submitted dog registration paperwork, breeder registration credentials, and supporting health documentation against our community standards.

What the Review IS:

  • Manual Document Check: A real team member examines your uploaded pedigree certificate, kennel prefix registration, and state breeder identifier (BIN/Source Number).
  • Credential Verification: We check that your registration details are consistent across your profile and match the state in which your kennel operates.
  • Health Record Review: Where you have indicated genetic or orthopedic testing, we inspect the veterinary or lab certificates provided.

What the Review IS NOT:

  • Not a Guarantee of Genetic or Medical Perfection: While we verify that testing documentation exists, a match suggestion remains decision support; owners must perform their own independent due diligence.
  • Not a Personal Character Screen: We verify official canine and breeder paperwork, but a profile review is not an in-person police check or home inspection.
  • Not an Independent Registry: BreedBuddies does not act as a Kennel Club or statutory authority; we verify existing credentials issued by recognized bodies.

2. The 3-Step Review Workflow

Step 1: Submission

Once you complete your dog's profile and upload clear photographs or scans of your registration certificate and health clearances, click Submit for Review. Your profile enters our review queue.

Step 2: Woof Team Inspection

Vetting typically takes 1 to 2 business days once the required information is submitted. During this review, our team verifies:

  • Kennel prefix and owner identity consistency.
  • Validity of state government BIN / Source Number (for breeding females), or council registration as an entire male (for stud dogs).
  • Microchip details and registered dog name against registry records.
  • Legibility of veterinary test certificates (Orivet DNA, CHS hip/elbow reports, ACES eye sheets, BOAS respiratory grading, and cardiac clearances).

Step 3: Activation & Reviewed Badge

Once verified, your dog's listing goes live with the BreedBuddies-Reviewed badge. If any documents are blurry, expired, or missing state identifiers, a team member will send you a direct note explaining what needs updating.

3. Reporting and Community Safety

Maintaining platform integrity is an ongoing commitment:

  • BreedBuddies reserves the right to restrict, suspend, or remove any profile that violates ethical standards or animal welfare regulations.
  • Any reports of animal mistreatment, fraudulent paperwork, or unethical breeding practices are escalated immediately for investigation.

By adhering to this rigorous human review, BreedBuddies ensures that when you connect with another breeder, you are collaborating with a verified, accountable peer.
