# What are the common questions when getting started on BreedBuddies?

Welcome to BreedBuddies! Whether you are exploring our platform for the first time or setting up your dog's profile, here are straightforward answers to the most common questions breeders ask.

---

### 1. What exactly is BreedBuddies?
BreedBuddies is an Australian online platform that connects registered breeders and responsible dog owners for ethical breeding matches. We provide decision-support tools, verified profile reviews, and health-compatibility insights to help breeders make well-informed pairing choices.

### 2. Does BreedBuddies sell puppies?
**No.** BreedBuddies does **not** sell puppies, list puppy prices, take buyer deposits, or process puppy purchases. We are dedicated exclusively to ethical mate-matching, pedigree bloodline preservation, and breeder community collaboration.

### 3. Is it free to join and list my dogs?
**Yes.** It is completely free to create an account, create dog profiles, list multiple dogs, and browse potentially compatible matches across Australia. Listing dogs is free, and there are no fees to maintain your active profiles.

### 4. When do fees apply?
Fees apply **only when both owners mutually approve a match and choose to unlock contact details**. The current standard match unlock fee is AUD \$350 for the male or stud dog owner and AUD \$450 for the female or dam dog owner. If only one owner completes payment, the contact unlock does not proceed and the payment is refunded automatically. For the latest details and any current package options, visit our live [Pricing Page](https://breedbuddies.com.au/pricing/).

### 5. What does the "BreedBuddies-Reviewed Profile" badge mean?
It means our human Woof Team has manually reviewed your submitted pedigree papers, state government breeder ID (BIN/Source Number), and relevant health documentation to ensure compliance with our community standards.

### 6. What dogs are eligible for listing?
Entire (unsterilised) male and female dogs with verifiable pedigree or registered breeding paperwork that are healthy, sound of temperament, and eligible under their state breeding regulations.

### 7. Do I need a state breeder licence or BIN to list a stud dog?
**No.** In Australian legislation, statutory breeder identifiers (such as the Victorian PER Source Number, NSW BIN, or Queensland Supply Number) and commercial breeding licences apply to the owner of the female dog producing and selling litters. Stud-only dog owners do not require a breeding licence; your primary obligation is ensuring your dog is microchipped and registered as an **entire male** with your local municipal council (with an entire animal permit in the ACT, or DACO breeding registration in SA).

### 8. How long does profile review take?
Vetting typically takes **1 to 2 business days** once the required information and supporting documents have been submitted. You will receive an email confirmation as soon as your listing is approved and live.

### 9. How do match suggestions work?
Our matching engine evaluates breed standards, geographic location, pedigree bloodlines, and verified health/genetic clearances where provided to suggest pairings that support ethical breeding goals.
